The Farmhouse is teaming up with Intervale Ranch, a local farm known for its beautiful Highland cows, to bring you two unique, unforgettable experiences this summer and fall — right here in Farmington, Maine.

At The Farmhouse Beer Garden

 

Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. Come meet the fluffiest celebrities in Franklin County — Intervale Ranch’s Highland cows — for a weekend of up-close fun.

📸 Snap a selfie, give a gentle smooch, or just enjoy the charm of these majestic creatures during this outdoor family-friendly event.
🥂 Enjoy food and drinks at The Farmhouse all day long.

This event will take place only on the 2 weekends that the Highland Cows will be visiting The Farmhouse.  Aug 16th & 17th and Sept 28th & 29th. This tour will consist of a leisurely stroll through our new Joyful Path that will take you up close and personal to the Highland Cows. . During this portion of the tour you will have the opportunity to feed the adults treats over the fence line, become acquainted with their unique names, charming personalities, and gain a deeper understanding of the breed. Plan to leave here a little dirty, with some slobber on your pants, poop on your shoes, and your heart filled with lots of love! *Participants must be capable of navigating uneven terrain. *We will make every effort to let you feed all of the cows treats provided by our farm, and take all the photos with your phones that your hearts desire to share with friends and family! *Photos are for personal use only, no commercial use. *We cannot control the mood of the animals, therefore there are no guarantees on the level of interaction they will allow. *Please read over the full terms & conditions before booking.

Looking for something more personal? Book a private half-day experience that starts with a complimentary lunch at The Farmhouse and ends at Intervale Ranch, where the owner himself will welcome you for a truly special visit. (transportation included)

🚙 Then head to the ranch for a private tour, where you’ll get to:

  • Pet, groom, and feed the cows

  • Capture dreamy photos and videos

  • Hear about the history of Highland cows

  • And soak up the peaceful Maine countryside

Perfect for couples, families, or anyone looking for a deeper connection to Maine’s farming culture.

This tour is only offered on Thur-Sun., typically lasts 3-4 hours  and is for groups of up to 4 people. The tour fee is per group, not per person. Please contact us directly at thefarmhousebeergarden@gmail.com for booking larger groups. Please read the entire description before booking. You and your group will be picked up at The Farmhouse and driven 15 minutes to Intervale Farm, down gravel driveways and fenced areas, taking in the stunning scenery as we journey right into the heart of our pastures. Here, you'll get up close and personal with our majestic adult Scottish Highlands, and really have the chance to immerse yourself in their world! Go beyond the fence line, and just taking photos, and engage directly with our shaggy-coated cows as they offer slobbery licks in exchange for the provided cattle treats! When you are ready, we'll make our way back to the barn to encounter the adorable fluffy calves in our weaning field. Here, you’ll have the chance to engage in a range of hands-on interactions, from gently petting and brushing their fluffy coats, to sharing affectionate nose bops, and cow hugs and kisses. Throughout our time together, you'll be able to ask questions, become acquainted with their unique names, charming personalities, and gain a deeper understanding of the breed. You will have every opportunity to embrace your time here and forge a special connection with these adorable creatures. As you bid farewell, expect to carry a bit of the farm with you—a sprinkle of slobber on your pants, a hint of poop on your shoes, and your heart brimming with cherished memories! If you are ready for an unforgettable adventure, all that's left to do book your tour! *Participants must be capable of navigating uneven terrain and be prepared for the occasional farm-related sights and smells. They should be at least 5 years old, unless they are lap babies or able to be worn in a carrier on an adult over 18. *We can accommodate upto 4 people at a time for a private tour.   *Please note, there are no public bathrooms at Intervale Farm*  *Be sure to read over the full list of terms & conditions!  On this tour, we will make every effort to make this the best experience for you by letting you feed treats to the cows, interacting with the calves, and taking all the selfies and videos your heart desires (For personal use only) These are live animals and can be unpredictable at times. It is very important that every member of your party listen and follow the instructions and directions of the tour guide.  If anyone is acting in a way that will create stress, harm, or concern for the animals or other members within your party, the tour guide has the right to stop the tour immediately and you will not be refunded

Refund and Cancellation Policy

All tours are non-refundable once booked. We do not offer cash refunds under any circumstances.

However, your comfort and safety are important to us. In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances that make it unsafe or impractical to proceed, we will reschedule your tour at no additional charge to a mutually agreed-upon future date.

Please note:

  • We cannot accommodate last-minute cancellations or no-shows.

  • If you are more than 15 minutes late, your tour may be canceled without refund.

  • Tours are private, and we reserve time and resources exclusively for your group.

Terms & Conditions

By booking a Private Highland Cow Ranch Tour, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

 Safety & Conduct

  • All guests must follow the instructions and guidance provided by the tour guide at all times.

  • These are live animals and, while they are friendly and accustomed to people, they can be unpredictable.

  • Any behavior that causes distress or harm to the animals, damages property, or disrupts the tour experience for others may result in the tour being immediately ended without refund.

  • Guests must be able to walk on uneven terrain and be prepared for typical farm sights, sounds, and smells.

  • Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended.

 Children

  • Children under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.

  • Children must be at least 5 years old, unless they are lap babies or can be carried in a wearable carrier by an adult.

 Photo & Video Use

  • Guests are welcome and encouraged to take photos and videos for personal use only.

  • Commercial photography, filming, or content creation (including for social media monetization, ads, or promotional purposes) is strictly prohibited without prior written consent.

  • We reserve the right to ask any guest to stop filming or photographing at any time, especially if it disrupts the experience or puts animals or guests at risk.

 Additional Information

  • There are no public restrooms at Intervale Farm.

  • We can accommodate up to 4 guests per private tour. Please contact us directly to inquire about larger groups.

  • Tours are held rain or shine, but in the event of severe weather, we will work with you to reschedule at no additional cost.
